Sari Silk Earrings

I've got many styles of sari silk earrings in my Etsy shop. Some are longer shoulder duster earrings, some are shorter. All have sari silk from India. It comes from remnants of sari making, and is a cottage industry by which women help support themselves and their families.

These boho gypsy style earrings are 4 1/4" long from the top of the ear wire.

The sari silk ribbon comes from cottage industry workers in India who use leftovers from manufacturing to earn a living. The upcycled silk comes from an item I purchased from a local hospice thrift shop.

I hand painted a green distressed finish on the bead cap and added a dangle of chain, glass and metal beads. They each have a small bell and a lovely filigree flower bead at the bottom.

Sari Silk Long Dangle Earrings

This is the first pair of earrings I made using sari silk. It has metal findings with antiqued brass finish, and, of course, sari silk!

Women in India make sari silk ribbons from sari factory scraps. It is a cottage industry, and a way for them to earn a decent living. I love supporting them in their quest for a better life, and the silks are such beautiful colors!
